Mechanical to Electrical Conversion
Course Overview:
This course will provide you with a basic knowledge of electrical theory as well as an
understanding of electrical machine principles and isolation requirements of electrical
plant for mechanical work.
Who Is This Course For:
This is aimed at those working within a mechanical and electrical environment who
would benefit from increased awareness of electrical principles and practices as part of
their current role. It is also a good foundation course for those likely to undertake other
electrical courses.
Key Learning Areas Covered In This Course:
• • Requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations and dangers of electricity
• • Electrical safe systems of work including practical isolation exercises
• • Electrical circuit theory and practical use of measuring instruments
• • Low Voltage equipment including switchgear and protective devices
• • Requirements of BS7671:2008 ( 2011 )
• • Single and three phase motors and associated starters
• • Soft start and inverter drives
• • Photovoltaic energy sources and inverters
• • Connection and verification of electric motor wiring
• • Practical exercises in testing and fault finding of electrical circuits
• • Final assessment exercise
