The Brachos Games, Season Two

by Rabbi Genack, [email protected]

8g is locked in a battle of epic proportions. Only one girl will remain…as champion…Welcome to Brachos Games! The rules of engagement are you can eat as you wish, but only with a bracha. If you are “caught” with food in your mouth without a bracha, it is all over. So how do we know that you did not just make a bracha to yourself. So here is the catch, you must get an Amen responder to act as your witness for every bit of food. Thus far the game includes on only Bracha Rishona (brachot before eating).

The girls have been battling it out and learning so much of halchot of brachot. Some examples “well it was less than a K’zayit”, “ I made a bracha at the water fountain but then they caught me drinking water in my classroom, am I out?”, “I was eating the mint only to give myself fresher breathe, really! It tasted awful” It has been such a learning experience, and an adventurous one. After our first week we have three girls

still keenly on guard, and carefully making their brachot. Gabrielle Posner, Kayla Friedman, and Talia Leitner are still in the running for champion of Episode I. There is a second winner in this game; the girl with the most “catches”. Thus far Donna Rebibo has got 5 of them!

Follow us next week to find out who will be the Champion!.....

May the best girl win!
