Nursery Four Central Park Zoo Trip

by Aviva Yablok, [email protected]

On Monday, the Nursery Four classes spent their Lag B’Omer outing at the Central

Park Zoo! They arrived just as the park opened and began looking for animals.

They saw birds, fish, llamas, snakes, penguins, and all the animals in the petting zoo. Right before it was time to return, they managed to see the sea lion show. They watched the trainers feed the sea lions and the sea lions responding with their tricks! What a wonderful way to spend a beautiful day together.

This week the kindergarten students and a large number of wonderful parent volunteers enjoyed a field trip to the N.Y. Hall of Science in Queens, NY. There was so much to see. They went into the Hall of Mirrors and saw reflections of themselves-- tall, short and everything in between. Making bubbles was another museum activity—all sizes and shapes. They experimented with dry ice mix and hot water, and visited with a robot . There was a fascinating sports section in which the children surfed, played wheelchair races, race car races and played catch. The classes ate lunch in the museum’s dining room and headed back to MDS. Happy Lag B’Omer.
