5G 's Special Day

by Elaine Smulovitch, [email protected]

On Monday, May 19th, excitement was in the air as 5G entered the classroom. After completing the ‘secret star chain,’ Miss Smulovitch had promised 5G a special class reward. Little did they realize what an action packed, exciting and team building day they would have!

At 9am, after davening, the ‘Cookie

Challenge’ was announced. The girls

were divided into groups and given a

number of tasks to carry out, including: making a cookie, creating a jingle, producing a poster and giving a ‘persuasive presentation.’ This was all based on the theme of friendship. There was an immediate buzz of activity as the

groups assembled and ideas were formed.

With Miss Rosengard and Miss Gerstein stationed in the lunch hall, each group was given a time slot to bake and create their own cookies. Hearts, ships and circles… colored sugar and chocolate chips… and voila!

During the rest of the morning and early afternoon, the girls used the computer lab and classroom to create PowerPoint presentations, musical jingles and posters about their ‘friendship cookie’.

Miss Smulovitch, Ms. Averbach and Mrs. Korn had the difficult task of trying to judge these presentations at the end of the day and deciding on a winning team. This was not easy, as each group worked superbly and all showed true team spirit, creativity and originality.

Comments from the girls:

‘Better than the last day of school!’ (this was honestly said!)

‘Such fun!’

‘The best day so far!’

‘Can we do this every day?’

Well 5G… this was definitely a day to remember and a wonderful end to a fantastic year!

Truly deserved!
