Shakespeare Club Presents Julius Caesar
by Deborah Goodstone; [email protected]
Could there be greater words of betrayal than those of Julius Caesar, when he cries in anguish, “Et tu, Brute?” As with many of Shakespeare’s plays, Julius Caesar is full of revenge, deception and intrigue. Set in Ancient Rome, it details the development of a plot to overthrow a seemingly over-
ambitious general. One could be forgiven for thinking that 5th Grade children would not be able to comprehend and act out such a story.
However, last Friday, the MDS Shakespeare Club members did exactly that and were truly magnificent!Accompanied by Mrs. Daitchman, the children sang “General Caesar I Don’t Trust!” and “Something About the Way I Feel Tonight,” set to modern tunes. Dressed in fine togas with accompanying sashes, the group kept
the audience enthralled and on the edge
of their seats.
