AYUDAR DESINTERESADAMENTE A LOS DEMÁS
ES UNA DE LAS OPCIONES MÁS GRATIFICANTES
QUE TENEMOS COMO PERSONAS. POR ESO, EN
MAYAKOBA APOYAMOS MUCHAS INICIATIVAS
COMUNITARIAS PARA MEJORAR LA SITUACIÓN DE
LOS MÁS DESPROTEGIDOS.
HELPING OTHERS, WITH NO SELF-INTEREST, IS ONE OF THE
MOST GRATIFYING THINGS WE CAN DO AS INDIVIDUALS.
THAT IS WHY MAYAKOBA SUPPORTS COMMUNITY
INITIATIVES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE
LESS FORTUNATE AMONG US.
CENTRO EDUCATIVO K’IIN BEH
a reunir 600 mil dólares.
K’IIN BEH EDUCATION CENTER
When Rosewood Mayakoba executives first saw the not-for-profit school
directed by Raquel Mitre in a low-income neighborhood of Playa del Car-
men, it had limited resources and inadequate facilities for the 150 children
who attended. Moreover, they had to leave that location and move to a
building that was only half up. Rosewood Mayakoba decided to support this
dream and promised to fund construction of the new school. Since then,
many families have made donations, raising a total of $600,000 dollars. The
school reopened on August 20, 2017 with seven equipped classrooms, an
indoor athletic center, a cafeteria, restrooms and administration offices. Ne-
vertheless, the commitment is ongoing and is now targeting facility expan-
sion and providing scholarships to low-income children through a godparent
program that is easy to take part in.
HAPPY HEARTS FUND
Natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes leave destroyed schools in their wake that are often
not easy to reconstruct once initial media attention is diverted. To address this, in 2006, supermodel
and philanthropist Petra Nemcova created the Happy Hearts Fund, which now operates in 18 coun-
tries. In Mexico, the organization is rebuilding schools in Veracruz and Morelos, states affected by the
September 2017 earthquake. The projects the foundation has undertaken over the last ten years have
benefited 5,000 children in the country. Its model is based on the work of international volunteers
together with community members. The goal? To see children affected by natural disasters smile.
