The cuisine
Cuisine in Tahiti is a mix of French, Chinese and Polynesian influences. Traditional
Tahitian food is based around breadfruit, raw or cooked fish, pork and coconut milk.
Poisson cru is the most popular local dish which involves raw fish and coconut milk,
even though the fish can also be served fried or poached. The restaurants found on the
island serve everything from French cuisine to sushi, making sure no visitors are left
disappointed.
A great way to appreciate the biodiverse landscape of Tahiti is by taking a jungle tour.
Taking a tour that explores the west coast will leave you in awe at the turquoise-colored
lagoon waters and dramatic volcanic scenery. The tour will stop by the botanical garden
of Vaipahi which has the incredible Water Gardens.
