GRADUATION
Leadership class honored at graduation celebration
On April 18 , the Leadership Shelby County Class of 2016-2017 was honored at a graduation celebration held at Indiana Grand Racing and Casino . During the graduation , the class participants presented their group projects which include Bag for Break , Let ’ s Grow Together and Mayor ’ s Youth Council .
Bag for Break was a program that supplied food during spring break to students who normally rely on breakfast and lunch at school . The group was able to supply food to 216 students .
Let ’ s Grow Together is a project that has created a community garden to help food insecure community members bring food to their tables . The garden will kick off on May 6 , 2017 .
The Mayor ’ s Youth Council is a program that brings together a select group of students , school faculty members and youth advocates to meet with community leaders and create new leaders of tomorrow . At the beginning of 2017-2018 school year , a kick off celebration will be held to celebrate the creation of the program .
