ered Osceola turkey.
With the flight into Orlando, we couldn’t
wait to get on the ground and see this great
landscape we had heard so much about. We
were even more excited that we didn’t have
to go to Disney World while frequenting the
same airport! Unlike a Magical Kingdom experience, generally speaking, on hunting expeditions, you get to your outfitter and they
tell you, “You should’ve been here last weekend!”, “This moon phase is going to make it
difficult this week!”, or “Man, it’s never usually

expectations become such that you anticipate
arriving behind the eight ball and will need to
fight to come out on top. This trip was an exception to that rule. We nailed it perfectly
with weather, gobbling birds, movement,
moon, and whatever else plays into a perfect
hunt. Long story short, all three of us got

everywhere, responding to calls, strutting,
drumming, chasing, gobbling, flying, feeding,
decoying, and all we had to do was just wait
for the zig to meet the zag. Danny and Carla
SantAngelo, the owners of Okeechobee Outfitters, have a unique situation down in
Florida. They run a great hunting lodge, have
a nice family run organization, but have a sensitive spot for our military veterans. They open
their doors for veterans and their families with
their non-profit organization, Sportsmen’s
Foundation for Military Families. This organization is for veterans of all military branches to
have that therapeutic experience of the out-
doors. Most weeks of the year, Danny and
Carla are welcoming a family or two of veterans at their lodge. The passion exudes
through everyone working there for the gratitude of those that served our country.
Knowing how special these experiences are
