There are fish in this lake all year long . Ironically , where anglers choose to fish in this lake often has more to do with the areas around the lake than the lake itself . There are Slidell anglers who will fish redfish and speckled trout in the Biloxi Marsh all summer long and then move closer towards the Rigolets as the season changes . Shell Beach and Hopedale anglers will spend all summer in Breton and Chandeleur Sound and then move back to the Biloxi Marsh and Lake Borgne when cooler temperatures return . The fact is , you can catch fish in Lake Borgne almost anytime . Another advantage to Borgne is while this is not a small lake , it is not a difficult lake to learn .

Speckled Trout
Touched by all , covered by none . That seems to be the identity Lake Borgne has developed over the years . New Orleans anglers will fish the lake ’ s edges from the Chef Pass to Martello ’ s Castle . Slidell anglers will skirt the edges of the lake from Unknown Pass to the Rigolets and the natural gas rigs in that area with an occasional shot across to the Biloxi Marsh . Shell Beach anglers will work from Proctor ’ s Point to Bayou St . Malo in the summer and move to the Biloxi Marsh in cooler months . But Lake Borgne is a fishrich lake that offers a great deal like the following :
• Protected water in almost any wind direction
• Access from almost any side
• Variety of fishing opportunities - Broken Marsh , Islands , Gas rigs and platforms , Oyster reefs Large points , Major water outlets on all sides Variety of depths , Rocky shorelines
• Relatively less fishing pressure by Capt . CT Williams BIGFISH TV • FOX 8 News
