LETTERS TO THE EDITOR New Grower Finds Help Another Take On Foliar Feeding I’m a fan of Maximum Yield because the magazine keeps me up to date on new products and growing techniques. I’m new to growing and maximizing my growth potential is important, which is why I find your magazine to be a great help when it comes to finding the latest products. Damon Eversole The article, “Foliar Feeding: Another Successful Way of Feeding Plants” (November 2014) lacks verification in terms of what degree of plant response can be obtained when a nutrient element insufficiency occurs that is to be corrected by means of foliar feeding. Most who face such an insufficiency normally turn to things other than foliar feeding as a means of correction. My experience has shown that nutrient element insufficiencies cannot be corrected by foliar feeding; aside from a few micronutrients, correction can occur with only improbable results. The movement of an element from cell to cell is a slow process and is affected by various factors. In my opinion, if foliar feeding was a successful way of feeding plants, it would be more widely practiced. J. Benton Jones, Jr. Editor’s Note: Damon’s response has Damon Eversole earned him a $100 cash prize to spend at his favorite gardening store, Motherlode Hydroponics and Organics in Sonora, California.
