Ten Must Have Items For Your Pet's First Aid Kit

There are numerous kits on the market for your pet's' first aid kit, but if you are budget conscious like I am, here is a list of the items you will need for your pet.:You will surprise yourself because most of them you already have in your home.

1. Cotton balls or swabs ( to clean the area)

2. Penlight or a small flashlight ( to better see the area you are cleaning)

3. Hydrogen Peroxide ( to clean wounds)

4. Tweezers ( this is a must have handy tool for splinters and bee stings)

5. Antibiotic creams, antiseptic wipes, powder or lotion (to disinfect the area)

6. Gauses/ adhesive tape ( to wrap the area)

7. Rectal thermometer ( Please remember your pet's temperature by nature is higher than ours. The pet's temperature should fall between 103ºF and 100ºF never below.) Don't forget the Petroleum Jelly for the thermometer.

8. Milk of Magnesia ( for poison)

9. Ice Pack (for sprains/ reduce swelling)

10. Scissors (preferably with blunt end)

Be sure to include your Veterinarian's office number and the animal poison control.
