Mathesis Nov. 1703 | Page 2

Today, we must say farewell to one of the greatest mathematicians of our time. Sir John Wallis, English mathematician, graduated from Cambridge University, priest, Savilian Professor of geometry at the University of Oxford, member of the Royal Society of England under King Charles II, author of many memorable works, such as Mathesis Universalis, and many other prestigious titles, passed away in Oxford, on the 28th of October, 1703. He made many important contributions to our knowledge of advanced mathematics, in the fields of geometry, algebra, and calculus.

As we bid this genius farewell, we would like to commemorate his life beyond simply the mathematics which he adored. There was more to the math genius than numbers, integrals, and theorems.
