Early Life and Founding of the Isalayam Ashram
“Why did I renounce everything and choose this kind of life?” was a question in his mind one day. Within a few days one person by the name of Yogi Thalkananda came to him and said, “We can start the upasana (worship) from tomorrow onwards.” Each day a new mantra was initiated, a total of 18 from this Yogi. Food was almost nil; energy came from sun and air alone.
It was at Chidambaram that Isa realized the distinct rhythmic pattern of particles, atoms and molecules. Each experience unraveled the mystery of the universe and the life eternal. The unexpected, unanticipated experience of Samadhi state culminated when at Vasishat Guha, in Rishikesh, Himalayas, the mind attained perfect equilibrium with total awareness. Pasupathinath temple in Nepal, Mansarovar and Mount Kailas all witnessed the divine experiences that Swamiji was blessed with.
After many years, Isa returned to see his parents at Thiruvananthapuram. Wanting to live in silence and prayer he stayed in a natural place without any contact with the outside world for many months. But the spiritual light of the Divine presence permeated outside, and devotees poured in seeking his all-intuitive wisdom and all-inclusive love.
On the day of Gurupoornima in 1991 he formally accepted the name “Swami Isa.” That marked the beginning of the Isalayam Ashram and its mission as an abode of peace and knowledge for ail. Now the world comes to study and to follow his example of a life dedicated to realization of the truth, humility, love, purity, compassion and service.
Today, His Holiness Jagadguru Swami Isa is one of the foremost spiritual leaders from India, a humanitarian, educational reformer and scientist.
Swami Isa is known by educationists for his vision of total education, “Education for Total Consciousness,” and by the international scientific community for his unified theory of everything, the “I-Theory.”
Swami Isa is head of the Isalayam Ashram in Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), India, where he currently resides;
Founder of the Isa Viswa Vidyalayam school and the Universal University;
Founder and Managing Trustee of the Isa Viswa Prajnana Trust, an international organization holding Consultative Status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).;
Founder of the Global Energy Parliament (GEP).
GEP Centers, following Swamiji’s teachings, are operating in Europe, Australia, Asia and the USA. Teachers abroad offer his “Life for Total Consciousness” yoga practice in India, Germany, France and the US.
