THE NEW GOAL

Rather than stripping the microfilm from your mouth, my goal is to drive the ecosystem to its low-film thickness and an odorless, protective, slick, and slippery state. I have been working on a way to make it difficult for the high-film thickness microfilm to maintain itself without killing it off with detergents, antimicrobials, or alcohol. I have spent the past ten years developing a to thpaste I call Revitin®, which supports a

healthy oral microbiome.

As you have learned, a thick ecosystem has needs that are very different from a balanced one. We have to exploit the difference. The Curatola Care Program offers ways to control the composi- tion of plaque by regulating natural homeostasis to maintain nor- mal metabolic activity of oral biofilms. To return to the garden image, my aim is to use the principles of organic garden- ing to support the microorganisms and biochemistry that favor a healthy microbiome.

I have found that this goal can be achieved quickly, because the speed of maturation and biochemi- cal turnover are much faster on the level of microorganisms.

In Part 1, you have gained an understanding of the powerful mouthšbody connection and the importance of this two-way street to your overall health. In Part 2, I shift focus from a sci- entific look at the mouth’s effect on the body to what you have to do to protect your oral microbiome and to reduce devastating inflammation in your body. You will start by learning how to clean up your act and detoxify, and then move on to how to eat for balance in your mouth and body. Exercise follows.

Working out at high intensity just two times a week for fifteen minutes is all that is required for big benefits. Of course, moving more is essential, but I consider that recreation. If your goal is to reduce inflammation, stress relief has to be a major part of the program. Part 2 gives you the fundamentals for a plan of action, guidelines for a way to live that will boost the health of your mouth and your body.
