Slow Beauty

a journey of autonomy and awareness

Before you start reading this article,

try an experiment with me: take a hygiene product that is within reach. Read the ingredients on the label and answer to yourself: how many ingredients do you recognize?

Most likely, close to none.

WELLNESS

The Slow Beauty movement was born in the United States with an intent to raise questions about what you have been putting on your skin and what are the consequences for both the environment, and your health. It is a call for you to regain your autonomy, and make conscious choices, knowing exactly what is in what you use.

The skin is the largest organ of the body. Everything we put on it is absorbed, quickly reaching our bloodstream. The problem is that most of the cosmetics available for sale currently contain substances that cause hormonal dysfunctions and cancer. A good example of this are the parabens that are present in all types of cosmetics and hygiene products,

some of them linked to the appearance of breast cancer.

What is not absorbed by the skin, leaves your house through the sewers and ends up in the ocean, creating an harmful environment to marine life. In addition, a good part of the plastic packaging used are currently also going to the sea, breaking into micro pieces. The combination of chemical ingredients with the micro plastic in the oceans creates toxic pills that go straight into the stomachs of thousands of animals every day.

I believe nature has everything we need for our body. Using ingredients that you have in your kitchen to make your own toiletries is a simple, yet powerful way to take care of yourself, while taking care of the whole Planet.
