On February 9th, 2018, students in grades 8 - 12/sec II - V had an opportunity to participate in workshops with some of Canada’s finest authors and Illustrators at MASC’s Your Story Festival, held at Confederation Education Centre. We were delighted to be working with Alan Cumyn, Caroline Pignat, Melanie Florence, Max Turner, Monique Polak and Brian McLachlan. Literary events were peppered throughout the day with an artist panel discussion moderated by CBC’s Adrian Harewood, artist readings, an interactive spoken word performance by Ottawa artist ‘Apollo the Child’, a presentation by Ottawa Public Library and a book sale offered by Perfect Books. We had had terrific feedback about this conference in previous years from students and artists alike. One student said: "The open, inspiring structure of Your Story is phenomenal for learning. Farewell and thank you for such an excellent experience! I’ve loved it all through High School.” Cumyn Caroline ax T urner anie Flor More information about Your Story can be found here: www.masconline.ca/Events/Your Story MASC Teen Festival or contact [email protected] a with Ottaw Harewood the Child’ n a ri d A ’s C o ll CB artist, ‘Apo spoken word And from Caroline Pignat, artist presenter at Your Story, 2018: “MASC gives these young writers the chance to learn writing tips and develop skills of the craft, but at a deeper level it gives these individuals encouragement, inspiration, and affirmation - and that’s truly priceless.” Mel We deeply appreciate the tremendous support of our Event Sponsor, the Leacross Foundation.
