2018 Years th Celtic Ra skallions Now in its 20th year, the Annual MASC Arts Awards is our beloved event that celebrates students in grade 6, 7 and 8 who demonstrate a passion for the arts. Each year, dedicated teachers and principals nominate students with an undeniable commitment to one of the artistic disciplines. One winner per category is selected by a jury. Winners are honoured with a scholarship for continued artistic study, with the Ottawa School of Art, the Ottawa Children’s Theatre, the Bluesfest School of Music and Art, the School of Dance and mentorship with a published author. The evening of the gala is always a vibrant experience for the students, and allows our community to gather in recognition of the lasting impact the arts have on young people. Nominated students are presented with a certificate from the City of Ottawa, and each year a MASC artist is chosen as the Honourary Patron to perform and speak to the students to offer professional insight. MASC Ar ts Awards Winners A special award known as the Jennifer Cayley Award is also presented to a past winner who is still studying in an artistic field and can speak to the impact the MASC Arts Awards had on them. Local businesses, Canadian publishing houses and community members all come together to support and encourage this group of young artists in a delightful evening of celebration. This year will be no exception, and on May 17th, 2018 we hope to see many new faces in the crowd to experience first hand the magic that is the MASC Arts Awards! Thanks to our scholarship donors and our event sponsor Dustbane. Written by Miriam Westland 2017 (Dustbane) Louise French rtificates hands out ce MASC Arts Awards Honorable Mentions 2017 10
