Materials: $1 + HST per participant. C ALLigRAPHy w iTH P RoVeRBS (residency) Occurring in all languages, proverbs reflect culture and deeply held beliefs. A stimulating way to initiate discussions about cultural differences with an aim to bridge misunderstanding and cultural divides. Participants work on an individual proverb of their choice and come away with beautiful calligraphy that holds deep meaning. Materials: according to project. i TALiCS Use a flat nib pen to copy a favourite proverb, inspirational thought or line from a poem. The colour, size and form of the letters, as well as layout on the paper combine to create works of art. Materials: $1 + HST per participant. o RieNTAL B RuSHwoRK Using Chinese brush and ink, explore brushstroke and balance of positive/negative space through the examination of oriental characters. P ART 2 Build on oriental brushwork by combining solid areas, brushstroke patterns and washes to create soaring mountains, sinuous trees and translucent clouds.
