Gold Mandalas
Mandalas are an
ancient artistic
technique used
in many cultures
around the
world as an aid to
understand who we
are as individuals
and as part of the
Universe around us. The inside of the circle
represents our inner world and the outside
represents the outer word. Using the
technique of Pointillism and basic design
elements, students will embellish a
geometrical design discovering shapes within
shapes and adding volume, contrast and
movement to the piece. Two sessions required for
Grades 4 - 8/sec II). Materials $2.50 + HST per student.

Workshop
Students will
experience how easy
is to create pieces of
art using recycled
materials. Learning
how to use hand tools
and increasing their
awareness of the environment, they will
transform bike tubes into jewelry such as
earrings and bracelets, or into woven
baskets. Materials: $3.50 + HST per student

Plastic Caps Recycling Mural
A colourful mural will be created using
reusable plastic caps gathered by the
students and by the community around them.
This mural with its environmental message
will reach audiences beyond the school’s
walls and will embellish the school for years.

Visual Arts
Tire Planters (Available April, May & June)
Reflecting on the value of recycling for our
environment, participants will transform 30
old tires into planters to embellish the
school and schoolyard. The planters’ designs
will be inspired by Canada’s history, flora or
fauna, classical or modern art or other global
subjects and will be painted using durable
all-season paint. Materials: $215 + HST

First session to be spent with 4 strong volunteers
to turn the clean tires inside out. $1975 + HST
