Liz Hanson Liz Hanson Workshops Music and Rhythm - drumming workshops for special education classes In these all-embracing workshops, the students will learn to play and explore a variety of percussion instruments such as bucket drums, double bells, shakers, and sound shapes, including modified instruments for students with mobility and sensory needs. Playing a musical instrument offers a new means of expression that can incorporate movement and vocalizations, or remain instrumental, depending on the student needs. The goal of this workshop is to create a child- centered, supportive, positive environment for joyful music making. MAxIMuM : 10 STuDENTS FuLL DAY : FOuR 40 MINuTE SESSIONS 50 Music $395 + HST From the Bronx to Brazil - a drumming workshop Liz brings her experience living in Brazil and New York City into a dynamic drumming workshop. Students will dive right into hip-hop drum games and call and response patterns to create a drumming piece that blends Brazilian rhythms and Hip- hop. Both rhythms share African roots but were born in the Americas and with them we blend the old with the new. Students play on bucket drums, double bells and shakers to create an inclusive experience for all! GRADES : 3 - 12/ SEC V MAxIMuM : 30 STuDENTS HALF DAY : TWO 1 HOuR SESSIONS FuLL DAY : THREE 1 HOuR SESSIONS $295 + HST $395 + HST Extend these workshops into a 5 day residency where students will learn a hip- hop and samba drumming piece, create their own drum beats and showcase them in a culminating event.
