Maddogs Tackle Another Year

The Maddog Football teams are all hitting the field for the Fall 2016 season . This is the 11th year for the Maddog program and numbers are starting to climb back up . The peewee program , coached by Clint Schechtal , suited up 38 players while the Bantams , coached by Derek Silbernagel , have 32 players taking the field . They started their fall training camp on Monday with practices being held everyday from 6-8:00pm . Coaches are putting their athletes through a number of drills to get them ready for the upcoming Jamborees . The jamborees are an opportunity to play a short set of series with each team that will be in the upcoming league play . It gives each team an opportunity to try out different players and positions to get ready for the regular season . The bantams had their jamboree on September 1 while the peewees took the field September 7 . Their regular season started on Sunday when they both took on the Steelers .
They held their annual BBQ for all the Maddogs and their families on September 8 . The bantams once again mentored the flag players as the young athletes had an opportunity to go through tackle drills .
Another date to keep in mind is the annual Maddog Homecoming . It is slated for this Saturday , September 17 starting with the peewees at 1:00 . We are once again hosting Rawlco Radio as well as things for the whole family like bouncy castles and face painting . Our special Rider guests are Gene Makowsky and Wes Cates . Mark your calendars . VHS Hosts Volleyball Tournament

Grant Elke , Commissioner of Athletics for CVAC , and Britt Marshall , High Performance Coach for Sask Volleyball , attended the MAP to put on a volleyball clinic hosted by Venture Heights , as well as a tournament . A total of 20 teams from Prairie Spirit School Division attended the tournament over two days .
Venture Heights hosted the preseason volleyball tournament on September 7 and 8 for both the boys and girls teams . Principal Ron Biberdorf was instrumental in getting the tournament rolling and wanted to give players an opportunity to play a series of games to get ready for the upcoming season . This was a chance to learn skills while having fun playing the games and meeting other schools .
