Several members of the MFD responded to a Thanksgiving Day accident at the intersection of Highway 12 and Township Road 384. The October 10th accident took place at approximately 12:45pm when a westbound half ton truck attempted to cross Highway 12 and was struck by a half ton truck travelling southbound on Highway 12. Between the two vehicles, there were five occupants, and all were left without serious injury; however, one was transported to the hospital via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Members from the MFD, RCMP and MD Ambulance were all on the scene. The Martensville Fire Department would like to remind drivers not to proceed across the highway until you have a clear view of all traffic. That includes if a vehicle is turning right off the Highway and you are waiting to cross; wait until the vehicle has completed its turn so you can see traffic that is going straight through on the Highway. Fire Departments across the country are celebrating Fire Prevention Week (October 9-15) this week and are doing their part to raise awareness for this year’s theme - “Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.” The Martensville Fire Department hosted their annual Open House and invited the public to come visit the fire hall for a BBQ October 12th. They provided information, displayed their equipment and demonstrated techniques used by the fire department when they are called to an emergency situation. Mayor Kent Muench expressed his gratitude, stating, “On behalf of City Council, the residents and business owners of the City of Martensville, I would like to personally thank the Martensville Fire Department for their dedication and commitment to our community. You are role models in our community and we can never say thank you enough.” Thank you to all members including; FIRE PREVENTION WEEK OCTOBER 9 - 15 POSITION NAME CHIEF/EMT DEPUTY CHIEF/EMT CAPT/RVFR CAPT/RVFR CAPTAIN/EMT CAPT/RVFR LIEUTENANT/RVFR FF FF/RVFR FF/RVFR FF/RVFR FF/PCP raining grounds.
