Dedication to IHMP Church Ciara O ’ Reilly , Martensville Messenger
This upcoming Sunday , November 20th , marks the day of Church Dedication for the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church . Over this past year , new expansions have been made to improve the church in capacity for our growing community . These additions were greatly needed to make up for the overflow of church goers in our community . In the year of 1992 , the land was purchased , and the church was built with the intention that the auditorium would be fit for church mass and also for other gatherings as well . Every week the auditorium filled to the brim with parishioners , and an expansion of the church had begun to be planned . The church stretches out into the new addition beautifully with a spectacular stained glass window that was designed by Abby Schnaider and Donna Delaney who are members of the Parish . It is located behind the alter for all to see . “ The glass is almost the pride and joy of this church ; there is so much symbolism behind the pictures and stories to tell even with the colours located upon the glass ”, says Denise Orpen , a long time Church Parishioner .

At 10:00 a . m . this upcoming Sunday , November 20th , the dedication of the church will take place which is a series of blessings by that of Father Kevin McGee . Certain areas of the new additions to the church will be blessed including the alter and the sacred oils enclosure . Following the dedication will be prayers , a lunch , and a brief program at which many community members will be thanked for all of their hard work throughout the years . Anyone is welcome whether you ’ re past or present parishioners , or just interested in the building itself . “ We want the church full to overflowing ,” says Orpan . “ All are welcome .”
