Bloom Readies for Sixth Annual Event Ciara O ’ Reilly , Martensville Messenger
The sixth annual fundraising event for Bloom is already in full swing as the event gears up for May 13th , 2017 . Tickets to the event were released just over one week ago and are already 50 % sold . It looks like this will be yet another sold out event as support for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ( NICU ) in our surrounding communities is simply astounding . Just last year , a whopping $ 51,000 was raised and donated to the unit through this fantastic organization . The event is getting bigger and bigger each year with terrific prizes to be won including a trip to Cayo Santa Maria Cuba , kindly donated by Gateway Travel , Martensville . The event offers additional draws and prizes including beautiful jewellery donated by Hillberg and Berk .
For those that are unaware , Bloom is an organization dedicated to giving back to the NICU and the kind souls that care for the little people residing in it . Bloom was founded by two mothers who previously had babies in need of the NICU . What once started as a small steak-night fundraiser in the name of the NICU grew to epic proportions . “ With continued support of the community , and another mom who also wanted to give back to the place who saved her child ' s life coming on board , the small steak night grew in just a few years into what Bloom is now ,” said one of Bloom ’ s founders and event directors , Amy Novakovski . In just five short years , this incredible organization raised over $ 140,000 in donations for the care unit . The organization is solely coordinated by a group of mom ’ s who share one specific thing , and that is the experience and love they have for the people that nurtured and cared for their struggling babies in their earliest stages of life . “ We all want to give back to the angels on earth who cared for our little ones . Some of us brought our babies home and other ' s had babies who grew angel wings . Regardless , we love being able to do what we do ,” mentioned Novakovski . Bloom is an annual evening event which brings together parents , family members , NICU staff , community members , and the public in one place to raise funds for what is felt to be one of the most important places in the hospital .
The evening of Bloom withholds a room full of passionate people with the utmost appreciation for the NICU . Stories are shared of brave moms and fighting babies , babies that got carried home and babies that carried on . Friends , family members and hospital workers come together to share laughter and tears as they celebrate life and gratitude for the NICU . Planned for the event this year is a delicious plated meal , live and silent auction , grand prize draw , and entertainment by magician Curtis Strauss as well as a performance by musician Bruin . The evening will be emceed by Global News ’ own , Julie Mintenko . “ We are tremendously thankful for the support of all of our many corporate sponsors , and everyone who attends every year helping to make Bloom the success that it is . We love the growth that we have seen each year and cannot wait to see what the coming years bring ,” expressed Novakovski .
