Consultations Begin

An open forum took place at the North Ridge Community Centre Thursday , June 2nd regarding a skate park for Martensville . New Line Skateparks facilitated the first step in the design process . The New Line consultation is being funded by the Syrenne family ’ s efforts . The park is being undertaken in the name of Kyle Syrenne who was an avid skateboarder .

first meeting there will be online opportunities in the near future to express ideas or concerns .
The representative from New Line took the group through a history of skateboarding , showed them a number of projects New Line has already completed , and showed them possibilities for Martensville . The process was very interactive with the attendees being asked to draw out their own ideas .
The consultation process will be ongoing , with the hope of having construction completed next year .

City of Martensville Holds Public Open House

Members of the community attended the City of Martensville ’ s Open House at city hall June 7th . Citizens were able to speak with city councillors as well as the mayor regarding their community . Department staff members were also present to answer questions or address concerns .
Information was available to the public regarding planning and regulations , recreation and community services , infrastructure and planning , economic development , as well as the corporate services department .

Citizens were also encouraged to fill out the Martensville Skate Park Workshop Feedback form if applicable to them . This form included information around the public ’ s interest in a skate park , as well as specific questions such as : what type of terrain do you prefer ? Vern ’ s Pizza Martensville Raises Money for Fort McMurray
Marcy Cross , Martensville Messenger After seeing the tragic loss that took place in Fort McMurray , Derrick Kauk , owner / operator of Vern ’ s Pizza in Martensville , wanted to raise money for the Salvation Army ’ s Fort McMurray response . Kauk offered a draw for two floor seats to the Saturday night Garth Brooks concert and raised $ 360 . Wanting to do more he also arranged for a dollar from each extra-large pizza ordered to go to the Salvation Army ’ s efforts . Vern ’ s sold 341 Vern ’ s Lite Pizzas and 130 of the original extralarge pizzas . Kauk has decided to

round up and make a donation from his location of $ 500 . In total through the locations efforts an incredible $ 860 will go to the relief efforts .
Kauk ’ s niece Allie was on hand to make the draw on June 7 , 2016 and Kandice Sommerfeld won the in-store draw . Terrie Adrian won two floor tickets to Garth Brooks through the Vern ’ s Martensville Facebook page . Furthermore , the City of Martensville highlighted their municipal sustainability plan highlights for 2016 . These highlights focused on the city ’ s vision : “ Martensville is a community of families , friends , and neighbours where we work , play , and grow to together in a safe , active and health environment . Martensville is a great place to call home .” The municipal sustainability plan for 2016 focuses on four pillars : culture , social , environment , and economy . These pillars support the community and allow for sustainability and success to flourish .
