Once the 16 dancers (and a big brother) explained that Martensville was home and that they were raising money for their trip to dance in the Disneyland Parade in December, people were more than happy to donate their cans and bottles to our group. They managed to collect around 60 big bags of cans and plastics and seven pallets worth of glass recyclables. The kids collected and some of the parents sorted. Once the collecting was done we put the kids to work to finish off the sorting. We would also like to thank Vern's Pizza for helping us out with a discount on pizza to feed us after working so hard." These hard workers along with the help of parents managed to raise $1334.00 on Saturday, June 18th. There was also a Bottle Drive in Saskatoon for the dancers who live in Saskatoon and they raised $700.00! These totals add to the other fundraising efforts such as steak nights and parents working concession and bar shifts at Sasktel Centre for various events and concerts. Saskatchewan’s annual summer free fishing weekend is July 9 and 10, when residents and visitors can fish in Saskatchewan waters without an angling licence. “Sport fishing is a popular outdoor activity enjoyed throughout our province,” Environment Minister Herb Cox said. “Free fishing weekend is an excellent opportunity for families, friends, residents and visitors of all ages to experience summer fishing in Saskatchewan’s beautiful environment.” DISCOUNT TICKET OUTLET Regular angling limits and all other sport fishing laws remain in effect.
