team represented Saskatchewan last year at the 2016 Brier as provincial champions . They had a slow start at the Grand Slam losing their first two games but were solid after that . “ We really started firing on all cylinders in the last 2-3 games and I think it was the commitment by each player to our plan of attack ,” commented Muyres . “ We played a very solid weekend overall , probably good enough to win the event but ran into a super-hot Brad Gushue in the quarter finals . All in all , I am happy with my play and our teams play . We are definitely trending in the right direction for brier play downs and the end of the season as we look to solidify our Olympic Trials spot !”
Muyres and his Laycock team Steven Laycock ( skip ), Colton Flasch ( second ) and Dallen Muyres ( lead ) have had a great season so far . They qualified for playoffs in six events and won the World Curling Tour event in Edmonton . They are currently ranked sixth in the world on the season and have played in ten events so far . They give back to the youth program and do their annual junior tour in January and February . They visit five communities throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba to teach young curlers about the game . Good Luck to Kirk Muyres and the Laycock rink in their pursuit of another Provincial championship .
