Riders Busy in Offseason
Chris Jones , coach and general manager of the Saskatchewan Roughriders , has been very busy signing free agents the past few weeks hoping to put a winning product on the field this season as the Riders open their new stadium in 2017 . One of the key acquisitions is slotback Chad Owens , who was named CFL outstanding player in 2012 , and who exceeded 1000 yards in kickoff returns three times with the Argos . He only played one season with the Tigercats and will be wearing the green and white this season as the Riders fill out that returner position they need .
All star offensive lineman Derek Dennis came to the Riders from the Calgary Stampeders . He had previous stints in the NFL with the Dolphins , Patriots , Bears and Carolina Panthers . The Panthers released him in 2015 and he was picked up by Calgary in the fall of 2015 . He is touted as one of the top free agent picks this season and the Riders are happy to have him on the line for 2017 .

The Roughriders looked to fill a safety spot with Marc-Olivier Brouillette , a product of Montreal , who played his last 7 seasons with the Alouettes . He was named All Star in the East Division with 34 defensive tackles , three special teams stops and one interception last season .
National running back Aaron Milton is coming to Regina from the Eskimos . The 6 ’ 3- 215 pound offensive lineman spent three seasons with the Eskimos so he is no stranger to Chris Jones who coached him to a Grey Cup in 2015 . Ryan White is coming to the Riders from Montreal as he spent his last 4 seasons with the Alouettes at guard and tackle .
The Roughriders are looking to greatly improve their 5-13-0 record from last season . On paper the team looks like contenders in the 2017 season . Hopefully it ’ s a new year , new stadium , and new era for the green and white .
