During the mini-tournament exhibition games, the Rush defeated the Colorado Mammoth with a score of 16 to 10 on Saturday, and lost to the Vancouver Stealth 11-10 on Sunday. Following the weekend games, Rush Head Coach and GM Derek Keenan commented that they would be working on tightening up before the season begins. The majority of National Lacrosse League (NLL) teams are bringing in up to 40 players to their training camps; however, a total of twenty five players and two goalies are currently with the Rush for their camp. New players to the NLL include the first overall draft pick and son of the Coach, Ryan Keenan, along with Saskatchewan natives Mike Kiminski and Reagan Harding. Players were feeling the pressure with so few of them playing two games within a 24 hour period. One player that garnered attention was defenseman Mike Messenger, who made his professional debut this weekend. The next pre-season action will take place December 16th when the Saskatchewan Rush hosts the Calgary Roughnecks in their Christmas Showdown, taking place at 7:30pm at SaskTel Centre. The 2017 season officially begins on January 7th, as the Rush take on the Georgia Swarm on the road. Before regular season kicks off, the Rush will be required to cut their roster down to a 20 man The Peewee A Villains played the Saskatoon Charger Aces in the C final in Moose Jaw and won 5-3. active roster, with a four man The team also dressed up as elves and went through the stands singing Jingle Bells and handing out candy canes practice roster by December between games. In the NHL this week the Calgary Flames are thrilled to have their leading scorer Johnny Gaudreau back in the lineup after missing three weeks with a broken finger. Gaudreau made an instant impact on the team scoring just 2 minutes into his first game back on route to an 8-3 thumping of the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night. The Flames are on a bit of a roll right now going 6-3-1 in their last ten games and are riding a three game win streak. Bad news for the red hot Blackhawks as their starting goalie Corey Crawford is out for three weeks while he gets his appendix out. The Hawks will look to Scott Darling to hold the net while he is away. The Dallas Cowboys are the first team to clinch a playoff spot in 2016. The Cowboys haven't lost since their season opener back in September and have now won 11 straight. Hot on their heels for the top record in the league are the New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders who are both sitting at 10-2 on the season. The Toronto Raptors are the hottest team in the NBA right now. The Raps had won six in a row before losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. Toronto is fifth in the league right now with a 14-7 record as of Monday. Maddog Winter Flag Program Children Grades 1-6 12 sessions from Jan 6 - Apr 7 Fridays from 6-8pm at Valley Manor School gym.
