Martensville Fire
Department Gears Up
For Christmas Hamper
Program
Submitted by: Larry Sigfusson, Lt. Martensville FD
As the Holiday Season approaches, the
Martensville Fire Department would like to encourage
everyone to think about those people less fortunate in
our community. For over 20 years, the Fire Department
has organized Christmas Hampers for needy families in
Martensville.
With the support and help of organizations,
schools and individuals, we have been able to give a bit
of cheer to those families. Once again if you know of a
family or are a family in need, please contact the City
Hall by phone at 306-931-2166 or by email (reception@
martensville.ca) with the recipient’s name and contact
information. The deadline for submission of names is
Friday, December 16th.
If you have non-perishable unexpired food items
you can arrange to leave them with the City Hall. We
are also looking for new toys suitable for ages of infant
to early teens. If they are wrapped please indicate on the
outside if suitable for boy or girl and the approximate age
range.
It has been my great pleasure to be the
coordinator for this program since it started, and I would
like to express my sincere thanks to those many people
and groups that have helped us in the past. Without your
assistance we could not do this.
Best wishes for a Happy and Safe Holiday
Season for you and your families.
Marcy Cross, Martensville Messenger
The Martensville and District Lions Club wants to ensure that everyone has a great Christmas, and can go through
the holiday season without having to worry about feeding their loved ones. It was this desire that inspired them to donate
$1000 to the Martensville Fire Department’s annual Christmas Hamper Program. Lions Club members Carol Conrad, Geoff
Passy, Syl Serblowski, Doug Ward, and Murray Fowler presented the donation to Fire Chief Kurtis Dyck and members of
the Martensville Fire Department November 23rd.
Throughout the year, the local Lions Club holds numerous events to help raise money to contribute to causes such
as this. “We want to help people at Christmas and we doubled our usual donation because prices have gone up. People
sometimes need a lift to make Christmas better and if we all come together, we can make this season happier,” Lions Club
member Carol Conrad explained. “We also need to remember that people need help even after the holiday season,” Conrad
continued.
For more information about the Lions Club, contact Syl Serblowski at 306-931-2247 / [email protected] or
Doug Ward at (306) 384-2283 / [email protected].
