exciting announcement made For
Highway 11 and 12 Overpasses
ABOVE: Representatives from Warman and Martensville, Nancy Heppner, Ralph Goodale, and members from PKIC met to make the major announcement regarding Highways 11 & 12.
Martensville City Hall was
a packed house Friday,
July 29th as a massive
announcement was made
regarding the Highway
11 and 12 overpasses.
Provincial officials and
representatives from both
Martensville and Warman
were on hand, as the
announcement that Peter
Kiewit
Infrastructure
Co. (PKIC) has been
awarded a $60.6 million
contract to build the
two
overpasses.
The
company was one of three
companies
contending
for the bid, and included
the most Saskatchewan
connections within its
bid. “The overpasses
will improve safety in
Warman and Martensville,
two
of
the
fastest
growing
communities
in Saskatchewan. I’m
extremely
pleased
that
Saskatchewan
companies
will be playing a major
role in the design and
construction of the new
overpasses,” Nancy Heppner,
Minister of Highways and
Infrastructure, stated in a
news release. Heppner made
the announcement alongside
Ralph Goodale, the Federal
Minister of Public Safety.
The Government of Canada
will contribute up to 50%
of the total eligible costs
through the ProvincialTerritorial
Infrastructure
Component – National and
regional Projects and the
province will be responsible
for the remaining cost of the
project.
The Highway 12 overpass
will be constructed at the

Street and Centennial
Drive meet Highway 12.
With the approximately
14,000 vehicles that use
the highway each day,
the new interchange
will disperse traffic and
reduce congestion and
provide safer access
to current and future
developments.
“Transportation assets
are probably the most
basic and the most
vital forms of public
infrastructure.
The
needs are particularly
acute in places where
both the economy
and population are
growing
and
that

Warman
and
Martensville.
When
transportation
infrastructure
is
inadequate,
people
and businesses lose
both time and money
and they gain a lot
of
frustration
and
aggravation. Not to
mention the serious
issues about public
safety. For all of
these
reasons
the
government of Canada
is
in
partnership
with the province
of
Saskatchewan
to build two new
modern
highway
interchanges; one here
at Martensville and the
other one at Warman
to meet the growing
population needs and
