Darrel Nelson, who also owns the GCOC on Nelson Road in Saskatoon, saw an opportunity two years ago to expand in Martensville. “Bells went off when I saw the land for sale out here. I bought the land and got started,” Nelson explained. The equipment for the car wash will be completed at the end of September and Nelson expects the car wash will be open soon after. GCOC will be open Monday – Friday from 9:00am -7:00pm, Saturday from 9:00am – 5:00pm and closed on Sunday. Nelson expects those hours to change as he talks to customers and finds out what hours will work best for his Martensville clients. All appointments are first come first serve and Darrel is looking forward to serving all of Martensville. GCOC is located at 720 Centennial Drive North in Martensville. The Co-op grocery store began construction next to the Co-op gas station on Centennial Drive in Martensville late in 2015. A similar store was opened in Warman in August of 2014 and was well received by the community. The new food store in Martensville will be 5000 square feet larger than the Warman store. Harley McClughan, Operations Manager for Co-op said, “We are excited to be in Martensville. The building is ahead of schedule and we’re anticipating it being open around the first of November 2016. We are holding a job fair on September 7th in the basement of the Martensville Baptist Church right across the street from the new store, from 1:30-6:30.
