Produce Provided At martensville Farmers market

Dustin Ferris provides
an attractive table, full
of colour and flavour
at
the
Martensville
Farmers Market. This
is Ferris’ second year at
the Martensville Farmers
Market with his produce.
“I first came out to
Martensville three years
ago for a very small market.
It was like a three-person
farmers market,” Ferris
stated.
Some popular items at the
booth are the homemade
pickles and homemade
jams that Ferris makes
himself. “Mom taught me
well! A modern single man
has to learn how to fend for
himself these days,” added
Ferris. When asked about
how he ensures such high
quality, Ferris commented
that he works with the
best fruit possible for his
jams, using fruits that are
currently in season. All of
the vegetables that Ferris
uses come from Golden
View Colony which is
just outside of Biggar.
“The local vegetables and
Freestone peaches are topof-the-line. Right now I’ve
got beautiful apricots, lots
of BC blueberries, just
getting to the BC stuff.
Then hopefully we’ll see
some Taber corn fairly
soon quickly followed by
some Saskatchewan corn
which is phenomenal,”
explained Ferris.

hold an evening market in
the near future. Be sure to

love the crowd here in
Martensville. There are
lots of happy people, all
interested in supporting
some local artisans which
is really nice. Every week
we’re getting more and
more people, so get here
early because I seem to sell
out awfully quick,” Ferris
added.
