Issue Number 04 | November 2019 Marr College - Mental Health Matters! Our Mental Health Ambassadors are keen to help support students and staff – offering drop-in clubs at lunchtime. We also have some helpful information and links on our school website Promoting Positive Mental Health Prelims and Mental Health Additionally, for many students preparing for and sitting prelims can be a very stressful time of year. To help with this click on the image below to see some top tips for coping with exams. In an average classroom, three children will be suffering from a diagnosable mental health condition. By developing and implementing practical, relevant and effective mental health supports we can promote a safe and stable environment for the many students affected both directly, and indirectly by mental ill health. ‘Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.’ (World Health Organization) The Marr College school website is also full of great tips. There is information about how the skills, knowledge and understanding needed by our students to keep themselves and others physically and mentally healthy and safe are included as part of our developmental PSE Curriculum and across the school. For a number of months, the team of senior Mental Health Ambassadors have been working hard to promote good mental wellbeing across the school through running lunchtime drop-in sessions and leading professional learning workshops for staff across the entire Marr cluster. The festive season can be a time of joy and spending time with family and friends, but it can also be a stressful and lonely period for people.
