Following on from an assortment of successful community events, Marlborough Parents Centre are pleased to announce that the 2018 Parent and Child Expo will be held at the Marlborough Lines Stadium 2000 on Sunday 23 rd September, making this their 11th year! This annual expo allows community organisations, parent support networks and local retailers the opportunity to showcase their goods and services in the hope to benefit families, grandparents and the wider caregiving village as a whole. If you are an expectant mum or know someone who is, this occasion is the perfect opportunity to seek advice or get tips from the various experts in attendance. It’s all here in a convenient package, a one stop shop for everything from gift ideas to professional advice on child safety! A great excuse to dedicate some quality time to focusing on your wee one. The Parent and Child Expo is the main annual fundraiser for Marlborough Parents Centre with the aim of educating and inspiring Marlborough families to discover what is on offer in our region and to have a fun day out! With more than 5000 people attending over the past five years, the Expo has gained a strong reputation among a wide Marlborough audience. Those with children aged 0-6 years, as well as grandparents and others looking for family related products and gifts will thoroughly enjoy the range of stalls on offer. It really is a great day out for the whole family. What to expect on the day: Bring cash, there will be plenty to entice you with over 50 exhibitors including children's wear, gifts, preschool education and more. There will be fun giveaways, raffles and prizes, including goodie bags for the first 350 adults through the door. Keep a lookout for the Silent Auction - Bidding is open from 10am till 2pm. A huge thank you to all the local companies that have made donations. Snack food will be available and plenty of entertainment for the kids with bouncy castles, toy library, Bunnings DIY, colouring competition, Jump Jam, Harold the Giraffe and face painting. You will also be entertained with dance demonstrations from Momentum Dance and guest speaker Kelly Rennie from Kelly Rennie - Busy Mum Fitness all the way from the gold coast! Knowledge is Power Courses are available to help equip you with the best tools for the most important job of all…PARENTING. The Marlborough Parents Centre offers courses throughout the year to help you along the parenthood journey. Childbirth Education Our Childbirth Education courses are run by trained Childbirth Educators and are designed for pregnant women and their partners. The Childbirth Educator provides a range of information and facili-tates discussion to support parents to make informed decisions around pregnancy, childbirth and the care of their newborn baby. Baby and You This course is aimed at helping new parents adjust to the changes parenthood brings. It runs once a week for 6 consecutive weeks and has guest speakers. It’s also a time to connect with those who have similar aged babies, supporting each other through those sometimes tricky months and to share the joy of being parents. Moving & Munching This two session course is for parents of babies four months and older. Information is presented in a fun way to help you enjoy this exciting stage of your child's development. Return to Work Course Practicalities and information to prepare for returning to the paid workforce. Special Sessions Our special sessions are run throughout the year, they are workshops where guest speakers come to share information with parents. Child Restraint Presentation Join Russell, a trained Child Restraint Technician from Baby on the Move. Open to all members of the Marlborough Parents Centre.
