The Pivoting Process
I learnt this technique from the teachings
of Abraham Hicks. But it doesn’t matter
if you’re a believer in vibrational energy
or not, the process of pivoting will
instantly change your perspective and
empower you by showing you how
you can powerfully control your own
thoughts, feelings, emotions, and actions.
The Pivoting Process -
What is it?
“Pivoting is a process
of deliberately focusing
your attention with the
intention of directing your
own life experience.”
First you need to recognise that every subject
is really two subjects, what IS wanted and
what IS NOT wanted, and when we “pivot”
we move ourselves, at will, from one to the
other. Pivoting is a handy way to use negative
emotion as a guidance system for discovering
what it is that you really do want.
Whenever you are thinking or speaking about
something you don’t want, you will feel
negative emotion, and be disempowered.
In this state you are a victim to outside
circumstance with little or no control and
going about your day reacting to one negative
unwanted thing after the other.
When you pivot and think about what you DO
want, not only do you feel better, but you are
taking control of a situation and moving in the
direction of the solution - AKA: empowered.
How To Pivot
All that is required is to stop spending time
noticing what you do not like about where
you currently are, and instead look forward to
where you want to be. There is absolutely no
advantage in pondering, lamenting, thinking
or speaking of the things you do not want, so
spend no time complaining about where you
currently are.
To pivot requires you to take conscious
control of your thoughts and words (words
are just thoughts spoken out loud). But, more
importantly, pivoting begins with caring about
how you feel.

“When you care about
how you feel and you’re
willing to pivot and turn
your thoughts towards better
feeling things, you will quickly
begin the positive, deliberate
transformation of your life.”
- Abraham Hicks -
Step 1: Notice if you feel bad - this could mean
any sort of negative emotion - sad, angry,
worried, anxious, hurt, fearful, frustrated…

Step 2: Say to yourself, “I am feeling negative
emotion which means I am thinking about
something I do not want. What is it that I DO
want?”
Step 3: Very briefly acknowledge the thing
that you do not want (the reason for your
feeling bad), then quickly pivot your thinking,
and think of the opposite, simply turn your
attention to what you DO want.
Sound too simple to be effective? Give it a try.
Taking conscious control of your thoughts and
feelings is very empowering, and The Pivoting
Process is an easy strategy to begin to do this.
ACCENTUATE TEXTURES AND LAYERS
Ever experienced ‘one of those days’, where
one thing after the other goes wrong? Try this
process of pivoting and see if you can turn it
around before things spiral from bad to worse.
Don’t feel an instant and powerful
change in how you feel? Don’t give up!
If you pivot to thinking of what you do want
and at the same time you doubt your words,
then you will not instantly feel better and you
will not feel very empowered. Be patient and
keep practising this technique. The more you
speak and think of what you DO want, the
less you are speaking and thinking of what
you don’t want, and if you speak or think
something often enough, you WILL begin to
feel it, and then see evidence of it happening
in your life.

The more you practise pivoting, the more you
will realise how empowered you are because
you’ll realise you actually have a choice
about how you think, feel and act, and most
importantly, that you don’t need to wait for
good things to happen in order to feel good.
