How The Tem One of my favourite sayings is “Be the change you want to see in the world”. It’s too easy to look at all of the problems in the world and feel helpless, “What can I possibly do?” But actually there is a lot you can do, you can be the change you want to see in the world! At this&that we don’t subscribe to the belief that BAD NEWS SELLS, in fact we try to focus our publication on the many awesome people and things that are happening in our community and we think our readers love us for it! Unfortunately for most other media, the latest scoop, scandal, or disaster gets the viewers, plus they can even manage to put a negative spin on a positive story. So it’s little wonder that we end up with this warped perception that the world is a terrible place, full of terrible people. In actual fact, there are a zillion more wonderful things happening around the world, than terrible things. There is so much more kindness, than cruelness. So much more generosity, than selfishness. So much more success, than failure. Our perception is based on what we choose to focus on. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to write the feature article for this kindness issue. The idea for this issue came about because of Random Acts Of Kindness Day being 1 September. Now, if that date is passed you’re not off the hook that easy! We want to encourage our readers (that’s you), to take on this “kindness mission” for the whole month of September, and make a challenge to yourself to see how you can raise the kindness temperature. I had the pleasure a chatting with co-founder of Random Acts Of Kindness (RAK) NZ, and I got off the phone feeling uplifted and inspired. I knew that Megan is the type of person that you bump into down the street and you leave her presence feeling better for it. FOR MORE INFO ABOUT RAK NZ AND KINDNESS IDEAS VISIT WWW.RAK.CO.NZ
