WaterGuard cuts
evaporation by half
WaterGuard is a liquid blanket that was developed in Australia to help reduce water loss from evaporation. A water
surface of 1 m² can lose as much as 8 litres per day to evaporation; a 10-hectare dam up to 24 million litres per month!
The components used in WaterGuard are also used in the food and
pharmaceutical industries. It is safe for human consumption, contains
no toxins, can be used in drinking water, is environmentally friendly,
and isn’t harmful to animals, plants or marine life.
As it comes into contact with water, the molecules in this silicone-
based liquid repel each other to form a thin layer which spreads across
the surface and therefore reduces evaporation – by up to 50% ac-
cording to some trials conducted in the USA. This clear liquid is very
economical: 1 ml covers 1 m² of water. Replenishment is usually only
needed every 3-4 weeks. It is ideal for any bulk water storage like dams,
fish breeding facilities, golf courses or swimming pools.
WaterGuard is completely biodegradable which is why it has been
approved in many countries, including USA, Brazil, EU, South Africa,
Australia and Indonesia.
