Sometimes they spend so much time socializing I wonder if there is any learning going on.

But learning does indeed happen in these home schools. In fact, for the homeschool parent every moment is a teaching moment. On most days my grandchildren jump straight into their studies in their pajamas and spend first recess getting into day clothes.

Homeschooling parents are from all walks of life and share common traits of discipline, dedication and commitment to teach their kids. The gradual decline of the school system has made them lose faith and forced them to take matters into their own hands.

Initially I was negative about home schooling when my daughter told me about it. After seeing the results of my grand-children my perspective has totally changed and I have become an advocate of home schooling. There are many famous home schoolers such as Winston Churchill, Margaret Atwood, Alexander Graham Bell and Whoopie Goldberg.

It is time for the rest of us in society to reconsider our preconceived notions about schooling and think more openly and positively about homeschooling. It has now become the fastest growing alternative educational movement in North America.
