P. E. KAVANAGH INTERVIEW (Cont.) MFRW: PEK: 6 W h a t a r e yo u r thoughts on love scenes in romance novels? Since I write about the emotional jour- ney of adults in a love relationship, the sexual relationship is integral. I love writ- ing these scenes and reading these scenes, with all their deli- cious detail. As long as the actions are interwoven with the themes and charac- terization, I can‟t get enough. MFRW: PEK: MFRW: PEK: What is the single most important part of writing for you? I believe the creative process and making art is one of the greatest healing forces we have access to. My writing began as an attempt to sort out the conflicting, and often painful, thoughts I was having. All these years later, it helps me to make sense of the incomprehen- sible and remake the world in a way that makes me happy. Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they? All my books are contemporary romances. Occasionally, they will include a splash of sus- pense or a sprinkle of fantasy. It‟s a represen- tation of how I see the world. Love, excite- ment, and magic feature prominently. My nonfiction writing, which includes essays and articles, leans more toward the inspirational and educational.
