An Excerpt
“Hubba, hubba.” Fiona‟s friend Zara glided into her booth.
“Who was that „hunka hunka burning love‟ I saw leaving here?”
“I don‟t know what you‟re talking about.” Fiona dropped her
pencil. “Except you seem to have a new obsession with „h‟
words.”
Zara occupied the booth next door to hers, telling fortunes
to the credulous. Zara never would admit whether or not she had
any true fortune-telling ability, but she had a strong following
that indicated she was, at a minimum, convincing to people.
Fiona sometimes wondered if she should get her own fortune
told. It had been five years since she‟d had any interaction with a
man, and maybe it was time to get back in the game. Not that she
was thinking about the hunka hunka. Not at all.
“Oh, look at that.” Zara peered over her shoulder. “Here
you are drawing a picture of Mr. I-don‟t-know-what-you‟re-
talking-about.”

nothing wrong with a little fantasy in one‟s life, right? She has three children, who provide a daily dose of reality
even though they are almost perfect (just ask them!). Carly loves traveling, outdoor sports, reading, visiting, and
