I think the best place to work in football is England: The power of branding! The FA, Barclays and the English press have turned the English Premier League into one of the most followed sporting seasons in the world. I studied Italian five hours a day for many months to ensure I could communicate with the players, media and fans: Want to get to the top? Work hard! It is history’s biggest secret. When you are the best at what you do, you would have earned the right of leadership. In the beginning I remember regularly working 16 hour days scouting and coaching players to achieve the best standards possible with the resources we vvhad. My vision was to be number 1: As a marketing leader, discipline, drive and the sheer will to perform will make you challenge the team to excel at what they do, even against all odds. Be ready to lead by example too! The team is completely close, really strong and compact. We know what we want and how to achieve it on the pitch: Just like in football, marketing success is a game of teamwork that is fostered with unity and discipline. I only go to war with those I trust: Know your team. It’s a hard market out there! Why have Chelsea suffered so much since I left? Because I left: Understand your worth. And be proud of it.
