Inaugural Conference for English Home Language Teachers
Maritzburg College , in association with the English Academy of Southern Africa , is proud to have hosted the inaugural conference for English Home Language Teachers . The idea for the conference was inspired by a positive association with Professor Malaba ( UKZN ). He was able to unite the English Academy of Southern Africa and Maritzburg College , to realise a vision of engaging like-minded professionals in a conference of this nature . The aim was to encourage networking and dialogue with our colleagues . The conference was a huge success and we look forward to hosting again in 2017 .
Opening of Nathan House New Wing
2016 was a special year for a group of Second Form boarders who officially occupied the beautiful new wing of Nathan House . They were delighted to be present at the unveiling of the plaque and took great pride in showing off their new accommodations , common room and outdoor area . Included in the extension and re-vamp of the House was a smart new Master ’ s study . The new wing blends in beautifully with the original building and also includes accommodation for two boarder masters .

SASAA Conference
Maritzburg College hosted the South African Schools ’ Alumni Association conference in 2016 . The school hosted 42 schools / institutions . The theme of the conference was ‘ Telling the Story ’. The conference was a tremendous success and delegates thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to network with other Alumni bodies , share ideas , discuss various difficulties and , of course , to experience Maritzburg College and the Midlands . For most delegates , this was their first time visiting our school and they were most impressed .
