Fifth Form Economics Tour to Johannesburg

with the 20 boys who attended gaining valuable exposure to the world
of business and receiving sound advice from prominent business leaders
about various career opportunities. Most of the businessmen they visited
were themselves College Old Boys, who each added a personal touch
by inspiring the boys with their life stories. They also shared with the boys
valuable words of wisdom and encouragement, and they stressed the
importance of having confidence, working hard and networking.
Some of the Old Collegians we met were Alan Keep (the managing
partner of top law firm, Bowman Gilfillan), Kelvin Watt (CEO of Trans
Africa Media), Chris Meyer (board member of Rand Merchant Insurance),
Rob and Grant Morrison (CEO and FD at Hinges & Hardware), Paul Miller
(Nedbank), Lunga Shabalala (brand ambassador and arguably the ‘coolest
OC in the world’), Ruan Viljoen (company secretary of the MICROmega
group), Kershwin Frankson (Ernst & Young) and Tony Taverna-Turisan (the
communications director for the new Mayor of Johannesburg).
