The Media Centre Monitors are vital components who ensure the smooth
operation of the Media Centre. Without them, all of us would find it near
impossible to locate any of our thousands of resources. This year they were
ably led by P Mpofu and his deputy, S Chamane.
We have continued with the more structured training regimen for the
monitors, with tuition and testing thus providing them with the foundations
of librarianship.
The boys enjoyed a ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ with the girls from
Pietermartizburg Girls High, who reciprocated later in the year with a
‘Masquerade Murder Mys tery Ball’. Although these are times to eat, drink
and be merry, both the boys and staff appreciate the network time that
they avail.
The annual Library Monitors’ Tea was our time to bid farewell to our
Sixth Formers who began writing trial examinations soon afterwards.

S Khuzwayo, an eager Second Former, opened the ceremony with a
heartfelt speech reiterating the importance of a Media Centre, and a call
for it to be more greatly utilised by both the boys and staff.
The Headmaster echoed this sentiment before presenting gifts of
appreciation to our Sixth Formers. Proceedings were closed by P Mpofu
who thanked all the monitors for their continued efforts and urged everyone
to make greater use of the Media Centre’s facilities.
The monitors contributed socially by packing boxes of old books to be
donated to Thornhill Christian College and the Hospice. These are books
that are not being read by our College community and it is hoped that they
get new life in a new home.
