With any prefect body the challenge is always to maintain a high set of
standards and remain consistent in behaviour, involvement and quality of
service. The prefect body of 2016, as with previous groups, started with
much enthusiasm, and rose to the occasion whenever it was required of
them, oftentimes exceeding expectations. The prefect body was ably led
by a strong group of senior prefects, headed by the much respected Head
Prefect, Craig Glover.
The group’s values, vision and mission, decided upon as a unit, was of
a high calibre and each individual’s actions and example served as a
constant reminder to the rest of the group. The prevailing culture within the
group resulted in a desire to keep raising the bar and serving the school.
The prefects are, however, only human and did have their bad days, but
they were honest and humble enough to admit their mistakes and have
them rectified. It was this attitude that stood them in good stead throughout
the year and is something they can take with them wherever life takes
them. It was encouraging to see them grow and mature in their ability to
handle responsibility as the year progressed. Especially admirable was
the manner in which they handled the Sixth Form group’s final school day
and started what may possibly become a new tradition by doing a shout in
every quadrangle of the school. As they all go their separate ways, I trust
that the lessons learned as College boys and prefects will set them apart
from their contemporaries and bring them every success.

REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL OF LEARNERS (RCL)
The Representative Council of Learners (RCL) once again served its purpose
to provide a platform for learners to air their views, concerns and solutions
to the running of our busy and vibrant school. The RCL was ably chaired by
L Salvesen who was well supported by his vice-chairman, G Nsengiyumva,
and Secretary, A Kostakis. The RCL Executive, consisting only of Sixth
Formers, included the house captains and a house leader from each House.
The executive served the council well by providing insight and guidance
whenever it was required. Through the channels the RCL provides it was
possible to have some changes made in certain areas of the school; one
of which is the awarding of Academic Colours to Sixth Form boys based
on their June exam results. A change of this nature outlines the efficiency
of a body such as the RCL and the valuable platform it offers learners
to engage in and play a part in the running of the school. The RCL will
continue to provide learners with both the freedom to express their views
and educate them in the manner in which this ought to be done in order to
bear worthwhile fruit.
