Chappies Champions

Second and Third Form boys were once again invited to participate in the
annual Chappies Soccer League during the third term. Chappies League
is designed for those boys who are not able to gain selection for a formal
team but wish to enjoy the game. The boys make up their own teams
and six teams were entered this year. The names of the teams were as

follows: ‘Blackie Changs’, ‘Chappie Chowers’, ‘The Sideburns’, ‘Nathan
FC’, ‘YMCMB’ and ‘The Dominators’. Disappointingly, ‘The Dominators’
capitulated at the outset and forfeited all of their games. The round robin
matches were played with much gusto and enthusiasm, though perhaps
lacking flair. Chappies rules applied and were strictly adhered to. There
were plenty of bumps, grunts, moans and groans as the teams competed
fiercely for the title of Chappies League Champion. The semi-finals were
hard fought, no holds barred, epic Chappies League encounters. ‘Blackie
Changs’ just managed to edge out ‘Nathan FC’ with a seven to six
