SOCCER U14B The U14B soccer team had a good but very short season, which was disappointing for both the players and the coach. The team played five games, won three and lost two. By the time the team started to gel, the season had come to an end. The group had a good team spirit and trained well together. It was good to see these players soccer knowledge and it was indicative that in three to four years our school will have a very good side. I was proud of their efforts. With only a few matches played, the summary of results was as follows: played four, won one and lost three, with one match against Michaelhouse cancelled because of bad weather. We learnt a lot as a group and had a great season, although we would have wanted the season to be longer. It was a great pleasure working with these young men who, although sometimes faced with stronger opponents, always fought to the best of their ability with a never-give-up attitude. Most of our matches were close contests – I was very proud to have had the opportunity to be their coach. Special thanks go to all the parents who came to the matches to support the team. I wish all these boys the best of luck for the future. It was a short season which did not allow for all the boys to fully reap the benefits of the drills conducted at practice. They went into their first match straight after trials, without an official practice, and this resulted in a loss. They played a good match against Clifton and managed to draw with them, with one man down. Due to bad weather, our Michaelhouse game was cancelled. The boys played a tactical game against DHS and gained the only victory for the season. The season ended on a sad note as we lost 4-2 to Hilton in very wet weather conditions.
