It was a pleasure to coach this side as each player presented their talents and developed their skills in a positive team-building manner . We had a lot of fun and a few good laughs along the way . They were a great group of College boys .

U15A
Mr G Barrable
The U15A team experienced a season characterised by some very strong showings . In total they played 16 games against a wide variety of opposition . The boys learnt much about playing in different regions and applying specific strategies to suit the conditions . They also matured in the area of self-driven development and their approaches to cricket . The team went through changes in the form of coaches . Mr Morgan started the year , ably assisted by Mr Swart . Mr Morgan left to take up a teaching post in Kenya while Mr Swart moved to Cape Town . They were replaced by Mr Smit and Mr Jones .
The young men of the U15A team were a talented group and possessed strength in every area , making them hard to beat . They had classy batsmen and big hitters , tricky spinners and skilful quick bowlers , not to mention the dexterity of Van der Walt behind the stumps and the incredible fielding ability of the team in general . The energy in this side was exemplary and helped to create an atmosphere of confidence and tenacity , both during practices and , especially , on Saturdays .
Player Critique :
B Gumbi ( Inland U15 ): He is a skilful all-rounder . His quick bowling was characterised by deadly seam movement and as a batsman he hit the ball hard and true . This was all complemented by his noteworthy fielding ability . His selection to the Inland U15 team capped his season well . He took 6 wickets in 39 overs and achieved an economy of 4.1 . He scored 146 runs in 14 innings and ended the season with an average of 11.2 which included one fifty against Kearsney .
D Dyer : He captained the side when van der Walt was called up to represent the first team . His timing as a batsman is superb and his scoring rate was frequently better than a run a ball . With continued commitment and practice his batting future will be bright . In total , he scored 290 runs in 13 innings ending with an average of 24.2 which included a fifty against Michaelhouse .
M Khumalo ( Inland U15 ): He is a formidable opening bowler , capable of frightening bouncers and destructive yorkers . He is also a skilful batsman , but struggled to score big runs this season . He is a sharp and committed fielder with great agility and accuracy . His selection into the Inland U15 team ended off his season in good fashion . In total he scored 78 runs from 14 innings achieving an average of 6.5 . He also took 19 wickets from 88.6 overs and achieved an economy of 3 .
C Fortmann : Another young man in the team whose quiet demeanour does not reflect his deeply competitive nature . His off-spin was accurate and consistent . His batting ability was also an asset to the team . He scored 132 runs in 12 innings , achieving an average of 14.7 . He took 16 wickets from 68 overs and ended with an economy of 3.3 .
B Tedder : He is a dangerous big hitter and also contributed to the team by taking many wickets . His 45 from 23 balls against Michaelhouse was a definite highlight of the season . He scored 144 runs in 10 innings , achieving an average of 14.4 . He also took 15 wickets in 55 overs ending with an economy rate of 2.9 .
S Zunckel : He is a reliable opening bowler . His away swing made good use of the new ball and he often gave the team a solid start when we were fielding . He is also a capable batsman and contributed useful runs toward the end of many innings . He took 20 wickets from 91 overs , achieving a strike rate of 27.3 and an economy rate of 3.2 . He scored 28 runs in seven innings , achieving an average of 8.4 .
N Nsuntsha ( Inland U15 ): He is a true athlete and this was seen in his agility and speed in the field . His strongest cricketing talent though is found in his bowling . He is a left-arm quick bowler who moved the ball adeptly away from right handed batsmen . His selection into the Inland U15 team capped off his season perfectly . He scored 10 runs achieving an average of 3.3 and took 15 wickets in 54.4 overs , ending with an economy rate of 2.5 .
T Francis ( Inland U15 ): He struggled with injury in various forms but never gave up and showed himself to be a talented batsman . His selection into the Inland U15 team capped off his season perfectly . He scored 114 runs in seven innings achieving an average of 16.3 .
J van der Walt ( Inland U15 ): He captained the side strongly . He is an extremely talented batsman and wicket keeper and ended his year with a call-up to the first team after they lost three players to injury and sickness . Moreover , his selection to the Inland U15 team capped his season perfectly . He scored 416 runs in 14 innings achieving an overall average of 37.8 and scored an unforgettable 106 against Grey High School .
A Todd : He is an extremely committed batsman whose work ethic was commendable . He did not always achieve the runs that his hard work deserved , but I am sure that the batting statistics , that he is hungry for , will come in the near future . He scored 166 runs in 14 innings for an average of 13.8 .
T Elam : He proved to be a useful all-rounder . His bowling statistics reveal that he was the leading wicket taker in the side . He took 25 wickets in 14 games from 73.5 overs achieving an economy of 4,1 . He scored 127 runs in seven innings , achieving an average of 25.4 .
Z Saayman : He struggled early in the year , but kept fighting and dug deep to improve and scored a very meaningful 63 in what would be the last game of the season against DHS . He scored 277 runs in 14 innings and ended up with an average of 21.3 which included two fifties . He also took 15 wickets from 45.4 overs achieving an economy rate of 3.4 .
